Valerian root is also known as Valeriana officinalis and that name is of Latin decent of the word Valere which can loosely be translated to mean to be healthy. Valerian has been used as a medicinal herb since at least the time of ancient Greece and Rome. Hippocrates described its properties in some of the ancient Greek text. During World War II, air-raids caused many symptoms of nervous disability in the civilian population and Valerian was used to prevent or minimize anxiety symptoms reportedly with great success. Today Valerian root has became a very popular natural
herbal solution for social anxiety and also to use as an aid for mild insomnia.
Our Valerian is a 100% pure powder derived from the root and not a standardized
extract because this is the best way for most to take the herb and receive
it's positive benefits. Valerian is none habit forming and can also aid with
high blood pressure.
PERSONAL NOTES: We
have taken valerian regularly at a simple 500 MG ( 1/4 tsp ) dose combined with
Passionflower and Kava to relax in and aid with getting to sleep. We find for
us Valerian is best taken in small amounts with other synergistic herbs. As the
herb slowly and naturally builds up in your system the effects are more evident
and there were no unwanted side effects like headaches. Our Valerian powder is a
natural herb with no additives and we only source what we can sell in roughly
10-12 weeks. Many people prefer our Valerian over some major brands that have
been on the shelf in excess of 12 - 18 months for this very reason.
